Question about 944 Suspension Swap Between Early 1986 and 1989

I have a question in regards to a complete suspension swap between an early model 1986 944 and a 1989 951s. I know the rear shocks and the front and rear swaybars are a direct bolt on swap but my main question is about the fronts.
Paragon Products list a different Koni shock for the 1986 from the 1987-89 944's but I am assuming that is because the complete strut housing is different. If I was to remove the strut housing from an early 1986, would a strut housing from a 1989 951s bolt right up in its place without any modifications? Please let me know if this is doable or not. Thanks.
