FR Wilk chip/board early 944
hi guys,
i bought the board and performance chip for an Early 944 from FR Wilk and am chickening out in the implementation. has someone put one in ? are you willing to do the chip removal and insertion of the board and i am willing to pay for the work. i was thinking of replacing all of the empty chip places with sockets. i bought the chip sockets and a special flux that lowers the solder temperature for easy removal. that way, the original chi0ps can be re-inserted for testing. the unit does not have to close up as before, i have an alternate method. i am too shacky (my eyes and hands are not up to the fine work) and would love for someone to do this work for a fee. if not, does anyone want to buy the unit? i placed an ad in the 944 classifieds.. Thanks, ernest,

Don't chicken out, it's easier than you think...
What I would do is clip off the old chip and then un-solder each prong individually, making sure to clear out the holes with a solder wick or solder sucker. Then you can put the new adapter board right on and solder it in.
