oil/gear oil leak

I was changing the fog lights in my 944 tonight when I noticed an oil leak. it is only when the car is running (i think). and it comes from close to what looks like an oil cooler/pan. the pan is on the under side of the car around the front of the passenger compartment. it drips off of a cross member. the oil looks to be gear box oil, it's thick and looks really clean. is there a tranny oil cooler an these cars? any ideas? thanks for the help. i'll probobly try to look into it later tonight. thanks.

If your car has an automatic the tranny oil cooler lines run to the front radiator. The flexible lines run to a hard pipe which runs above the exhaust manifold. Then it goes back to flexible lines into the radiator.

If your car is a 5-speed the tranny oil cooler does not go anywhere near the front of the car.

Pictures will help better identify where it could be coming from as im still fuzzy about where your talking about.

it's a 5spd. if i don't get the problem solved by this weekend i'll post some pictures of the problem. i don't have a repair manual yet and i'm new to the cars, so i'm not sure how things are layed out. it is clearly on the front half of the car. i'll try to look at it closer here in an hour or so once i get the little one to bed. but as i said i'm not familiar with the mechanics of these cars yet, so i don't know what to call the thing that seems to be dripping! my manual should be in tomorrow thank goodness! thanks for the help.

I finally got my kids to bed and got to look at my other baby. it's a powersteering leak at one of the lines running into the rack, which explains why it only does it when the motor is running. thanks for the input!
