When having a LS1 V8 in your 944 just isn't enough!

If your just not happy with the 300+ hp of a LS1 V8 swap what would the next step be?

How about a Maggie Supercharger on top of that motha!

holly shinto how does a 944 handle that lol

many944s 03-08-2007 06:30 PM

NO CRAP! What kind of suspension does that have on the front end!?! I bet it handles like an original Cobra with a 454....squirrelly!

ae1969 03-08-2007 07:05 PM

Beautiful work.

I agree with many944s that will be one difficult ride to control at the limit.

Scary!.

marghella 03-08-2007 07:27 PM

that is super cool tho

67l60 03-08-2007 07:55 PM

the ls1 is not really all that heavy

i bet it handles great if you can keep a transaxle under it

though you might need stiffer springs, but not much stiffer

you had to ad a super charger thats going to rock

and sound mean as all heck ,

seen youre site very nice indeed

EMBPilot 03-08-2007 09:05 PM

your a sick, sick man.... :) NICE!!!

We went over the weight thing before on a previous thread. I went out on the web and found the weight of each engine. The aluminum LS1 (glad you didn't go for the LT1 speedy) is not that different in weight from the 944 engine. Now I'm sure that blower adds a few pounds but they are probably worth the detrimental effect they will have on the car's balance. I think this is a crazy project, but it looks like you have executed it very well - you may have the best low-end torque of any 944 anywhere, ever - congrats.

pdx944 03-08-2007 09:07 PM

Guys, this is not speedy's car it is another hybrid owner.

74goldtarga 03-08-2007 09:11 PM

Oops, I didn't realize it wasn't speedy's car. You will have to do a twin-turbo LS6 to get my Kudos next time then.

Eldorado 03-08-2007 10:11 PM

yup.. both engines are approximately the same weight..
weight of the blower could probably be offset by removing the a/c... because, honestly.. who needs ac? just roll down your windows and floor it....

Um..............Yeah!......................Shotgun !

Razorback1980 03-09-2007 02:03 AM

I hate it when I miss shotgun!

speedracing944 03-09-2007 03:37 AM

Sorry about misleading... This car is a fellow porschehybrids board members car.

I have some more work to do on mine before it is completed. But my plan for my car is Vette LT1 running Mega Squirt II stand alone system. After I get it up and running then comes the second stage of installing a T-78 turbo and running some boost ~ 5psi.

Renengade Hybrids decided to discontinue the Small Block Chevy / LT1 kit they made so a group of us on the Porschehybrids board are designing our own. It's a minor set back for my project but that is OK.

Must be a scary drive! Oh, and how do you close the hood? :)

speedracing944 03-09-2007 01:16 PM

The guy who is builing the car is ordering the Renegade Hybrids hood which has the center portion raised a couple of inches.

Sweet...
Keep us posted on the results!

Yes, that LS1 is quite lite...
Not like the heavy old Chevy 350 V8 I had in a old 240 SX I had...

toolboy62 03-13-2007 06:15 PM
