M030 rear bar

What size in mm is a rear M030 stabilizer bar for a 1988 924s?

I'm pretty sure the standard M030 Sway bars are 19mm. These will fit most 924/944's

The 19mm bar was only on the M030 968. Your 924S probably has a 14mm rear bar and a 25.5mm front.

Porsche Crest

I was confused about DCautomotive's parts catalog- they list 14 and 20mm (m030) bars for the 924s. I think they ment 19mm tho. My car has a 14m rear, and a 23mm front.

Rear - none

M404 Option; Stabilizer, Front And Rear

Tail happy.

Remember that the M404 option is sway bars only. M030 option includes stiffer front & rear springs and KONI yellows (adjustable damping only - not height).

I have a m030 924s. With 205 50 15 tires on the stock 15x6f 15x7 rears and new shocks it handles great!! The big sway bar doesnt help with putting down power coming out of the corners (no LSD ) but the car feels very well balanced. A tad of understeer at the limit, but I did have my alignment shop dial in a little more rear camber just to be on the safe side while im learning the car.

And yes the M030 924s have adjustable height and damping.

Jsilverman-

More rear camber is to help with oversteer (tail-happiness). What alignment numbers did you spec to the alignment shop. Did you lower the rear suspension (will also help with oversteer and improve braking). What tire pressures do you run. Which new shocks did you get. 205/50/15 seem small. I thought the next logical size wider would have been 205/60/15 over the stock 195/65/15.

Sorry for so many questions, but I'm at the great "OK, what am I gonna do with the suspension" crossroad. My suspension is starting bone stock (no M404, M474, M404 option). So far I've put in:
- new control arms because they are cheap and I didn't feel like beating and drilling stuff off the 20 year old ones
- new ball joints
- new outer tie rod ends
- new Weltmeister F&R front control arm bushings
- new OEM steering rack bushings
- 3deg caster, 3/4deg camber, 1/8" toe-in front settings

Yet to come:
- 25.5 or 26.8mm front sway bar
- 19mm rear adjustable sway bar (and all the hardware to add one)
- KONI yellow sports all around
- 200 or 250# Eibach front springs with adjustable perches
- 24.5mm hollow torsion bars
- Weltmeister rear spring plate and torsion tube mount bushings
- 7 & 8 x 16 phone dials, maybe. I don't think Fuchs come in 52.3mm ET

But first, I gotta get a new job. Back to Project Engineering. Retail officially sucks the big one. What the hell was I thinking?

I dont remember the alignment setting. I think I have -1.2 deg front and -1.4 rear camber. Caster was in stock spec and front toe was set to 0 IIRC. The increase rear camber adds rear grip which means the front will break loose first. Id rather have a car that pushes a little bit, its easier to drive. Both front and rear has been lowered.

I am running falken azenis tires, and got the small size because it improves gearing. My car is pretty much track only so I dont care if the speedo is off. My street tires are 225 50 16s all around. Get 15x7s for your car. They are lighter, and less rotational mass is better.

I dont know what my car has for a front sway bar, Ill have to measure it one day but Ill be putting a welmeister bar up front when I do the springs this summer. I have 25.5mm torsions now, and softer sprigns than you are talking about so Id go with 26 or 27mm torsion bars. Imn going with 400# front springs and 30mm bars.

Don't forget to put year and model of your Porsche in your signiature line. That way, we won't have to ask for it when (not if) you post a new topic seeking advice. You'll get some good responses here if you are specific and detailed. I find this site an extremely valuable resource. AND, most parts prices here are suprisingly good.
