which way does it turn
 

On the elec sunroof the nut that adjusts the tension. I know you can turn it to remove the sunroof manually. ( I never have been able to get it to work normally, another story )

So I don't put too much pressure on the little gears; to raise is it turned clockwise or counter clockwise???? ( I can't remember )

manually opening the sunroof with a 21mm(???) is counter-clockwise.... atleast mine opened when I was feeding the cable back up when it was laying in the trunk.
