I'm back guys....

To some of you I'm probably new, but I once visited this place 2-3 years ago. I sold my beat down 944 for a Nissan 240sx, to make some feeble attempt to re-enter the import industry, I guess to 'find myself' in the whole automotive scene.

Made many friends here, and attended 2 annual runs up here in NY while I had my car, not to mention the frequent drives up to Granby, CT to hang out with CJ and the crew. After 2 years in the import scene, as of this weekend I'm giving it up. The crowd just isnt the same as all of you guys....I think I had a damned lot of fun going to the meets, being it was way more organized than any kids could conjure up, and nothing stupid ever happened. Not to inflate anyone's ego here, but you guys were some of the best people I ever met.

My 3rd 240sx just sucummbed to the ever increasing 'cancer' found in these Northeastern cars. With all the honda kids buying them up and an ever increasing rate and trying to jump on the drifting bandwagon, they have saturated the market and drove the prices down for the quality aftermarket parts that once made it so appealing to me. Now its nothing but knockoff imitation wheels of the real deal, and no one gives a crap if you got the genuine stuff or not. I put lot of $ into this one, and got it to handle like it was on rails, but it just wasn't quite the same as the old Porsche was. The comraderie isn't there either, as I've learned that some kids will turn their back to make a dollar over you faster than you can blink an eye.

So, to make a long story short, I've decided that I can only truely be happy behind that Stuttgart badge. Hopefully this summer I'll have the debt gone and be looking forward to enjoying the 'experience' for good this time. As the old saying goes, Porsche...there is no substitute

Although I'll probably end up driving one of those 'blasted air cooled oil leakers' that all of us 944 owners hate

Yes that they do....but when you have the money, you can afford to search out of the tri-state area here. Now that I moved into a house with a garage, I have a place to keep it.

Although this time around as I stated, I want to try out the other side of the spectrum...a 911 most likely. Although a good S2 or a turbo could change things. I have an interview for a new job come Wednesday, so pending that, I could easily see myself in one come summertime.

I thought you had decided to buy a BMW?!?

Nothing wrong with that of course... unless you are gonna have a P-Car there too...

Well I actually take delivery of the bmw in 2 weeks. And I got the call for the long island railroad to come in wednesday for an interview. If all goes according to plan, then I could very well see myself in another porsche before end of summer.

Oh if the budget permits it would be great. Bill Rudtner would prolly be tickled if I got one.

But we all know I'd prolly kill myself in one lol. So a regular carrera will work. Or perhaps an SC.

I would recommend cutting your teeth in a "regular" 911 first; if the jump from 944 to 951 is any indication, the 930 will be a lot to handle.

Yes quite true. I will stop by rudtner's on the way home today and ask him for any advice pertaining to buying one, or what to look out for.

By “cancer” do you mean rust? Being from Ontario I can certainly agree that it is a prevalent concern in older cars here. But from my experience, a typical 944 would be miles ahead of a 240 SX in this department.

Having said that, maybe I completely misinterpreted what was being said here.

240 SXs are neat though. Although I agree, drift wanna-bes have over-exposed that car. Do you have any pics of your last machine?

And good luck in finding your next P-car. It’s like some sort of disease and once afflicted, that’s it!

Yes I was talking about the rust. I was thinking about getting another frame from down south but they want too much for them because of the whole drifting thing.

On another note, my sales guy just called me and told me he can't get the car I wanted now without waiting six weeks for it...time to look at something else

Well after much debating, and selling off my last 240 for the $ I wanted, I decided to put more $ down for a BMW....so now I have the option to look at forced induction vehicles.

After much debating, next friday a red on black 335i sedan in stick will be waiting for me . I think this should more than hold over my turbo itch for the time being.

and here we have it:

what a blast this thing is to drive....and I havent even pushed it beyond 4k yet, and full boost. I have been breaking it in nicely so far, clocked in at 390 miles on the last tank of gas (15.7 gallon tank)....averaged 30-33mpg on the hwy. The torque is absurd. I can just throw it in 6th and just loaf around town at 1300rpm and just ride on a wave of torque..and I dont even have to spool the turbos .

So much for getting a 930

Congrats, man, she's a beaut. At least one of us knows what it's like to take delivery of a new car.

I've just cleared away one of the bank loans and cleared out the credit card (thats going into hiding as well).

6k left to go, and then can start off with a 911

I actually got my first comment today..and it was from a Porsche driver! Nice fellow in an SC made chit chat with me at the gas station today in my drives to nowhere...loved the color and the fact that it was stupid fast. I modestly replied that I would take his car over this plastic and metal thing they call BMW anyday . So we agreed to trade off cars for a weekend down the line
