I was just wondering how easy would it be to install an 'S' head on a non 'S' car. Has anyone tried it? Does someone make aftermarket heads? Also I noticed the transmission codes are different between a 87 944 and a 87 944s, does that matter?

BTW -- not really 'easy' -- VERY time consuming

To answer the original question. YES, it can be done. Will it work? NO!!!!! Because you need 16V pistons to go with the 16V head. You would also need lots of other things.... 944S wiring harness, larger fpr, 16v intake manifold, S/S2 afm, S OR S2 throttle cable, 16v distributor cap and rotor, S/S2 distributor housing...... given up on the idea yet?

Yep!
Think I'll just spend a little extra on my initial purchase and buy a 944S. Thanks, Dave
