can't believe i got a ticket today ($65) for having a for sale sign in my car window, i was parked in nyc. my car, my window, what the hell???

the fact that it was parked surprises me...
i know up here you're not allowed to drive with a for sale sign in the window - it obstructs your view...

I'd check the violation code out on the internet, see if it says anything to do with the car being parked...

then i'd contest it.

You were in NYC and your surprised you got a ticket??Be happy they didnt write another one for breathing..I call NY/NJ the legal extortion states...

Was a case with Huntington Beach that went to the local federal courts about for sale signs. Basically Huntington Beach said you could not have one in your car while it was parked on a public street. Ruled a violation of the First Amendment.

As to blocking one's view. The sign (decal, etc.) has to be in the rear side windows or no bigger than 6" x 6" in the upper drivers side corner of the rear window per state vehicle laws.

Found out that the car dealers which bring in over 30 percent of Huntington Beaches sales tax revenue were the ones that had forced the ordinance through.
