Unhappy Brake light trouble

Hi Anybody know where the brake light switch is on a 86 Porsche, 944? There are no brake lights at all, so that leads me to believe that it's a switch rather than bulbs and the fuses seems working under the hood. Could this be a trouble also with a switch on my handbrake?
This trouble came after I left my car all this winter in my garage. Last year, everything working.
Thanks for your input.

Simon-Pierre

Use your volt meter to find the problem. Brake switch should be mounted next to the pedal where when the pedal is pushed down it closes the switch. Switch on handbrake is not for the brake lights at the rear of the car, it turns on the red light in the dash.

don't work more

I bypass the switch on my pedal brake with no more result: no light at rear on the windows and lower.
Somebody have a idea where the trouble could be? (like a usual trouble on 944)

Thanks
SP

try pulling and reseating the fuse...
after that, double check the bulbs and connectors for corrosion.

Already check for the fuse and I put some WD40,
but do you think all the lights can be off only because one bulb is dead? That's could be corrosion? Weird, my car is inside until October and everything working before that. I think you're right, I need to buy a voltmeter to check all the wire. But still weird about the cause...

That's the best solution?

Have you checked your grounds? (On my '88) there are two ground wires for the rear lights. They are grounded with a bolt just under the carpet, between the license plate and the driver's side tail lights.

Remove the bolt, use sand paper on the connections to clean off any corrosion, then reattach the wires and bolt. Worth a shot?

No problem! Glad it helped.

Our grounds tend to be the culprit for many electrical issues.

You gotta like repairs that don't cost anything! (rare as that may be with our cars)
