how to patch front air dam
Well, I went outside with all intentions of fixing some stuff on the '44 - well, I got as far as looking at it and I discovered that the driver's side sidemarker was half in and half out of the plastic air dam. Upon farther inspection, the inner fender is shattered and the air dam itself has a small crack in it where it was pulled. I already had one crack in it so this annoys me. Aside from having to find an inner fender, what am I looking at to fix this? I know I'm not going to find a pristine, black air dam SO... anyone patch one of these with any success?
It looks like either the girlie or I caught the back edge of the air dam on a curb and just ripped the living **** out of it. I am ASSuming it was her, because I don't remember doing this... GRRRRR! thanks, nate (still haven't fixed the sunroof... goshdarned car is breaking faster than I can fix it.)

Are you referring to the kinda-triangle shaped piece that is parallel to to ground? If so, I have a brand spanking new one, still in the plastic wrapper from Porsche. I was working on a friends 944 that too had hit a curb and shattered, when I ordered the parts, they sent 2 of them, and rather than working with the hassle of shipping it back, it went on the "parts shelf".
::edit:: Please ignore the above description and read post below. Give me a couple of minutes, and I will take some pictures of the factory pieces I have. I'm pretty sure I have the center piece as well. -Nick

There's s'posta be a piece parallel to the ground? I don't think I have one of those LOL I've also been missing the tray below the engine since I bought the car. The actual inner fender liner is hosed, part of it is attached to the fender, and part of it is attached to the air dam, but the two aren't attached to each other anymore.
I will try to see if I can get a pic tomorrow... the piece I need appears to be 944 584 381 03 in PET. nate (and she's taking the car again tomorrow, thanks to my inability to fix0r her Corrado, due to my desire to get my Stude back on the road and keep my job... she's actually a pretty good driver, I ought to just give her the damn '44 when I get the Stude going)

Nick, the two parts you have are only for the pre '85 cars. Later cars had a complete liner which fit into the fender, the early cars had rubberized undercoating and the plastic piece which you have covering the front of the wheel well.
The lower cover also only fits the early cars that used a different style radiator support.

I know a lot of people's cars around here are probably a lot like my 89 Toyota...
A lot of those underneath pieces were ripped off long ago.... Train crossings... Steep parking lots... and my favorite- the occasional 95mph low water bridge...
