Trouble Codes?
Is there a way to get trouble codes from a 1987 944 NA? It has the Diag. Port so I am ASSuming that you can potentially hook up a scanner and get trouble codes and engine read-outs.
I know in GM cars with OBD1 you can bridge the connector pins and the check engine light will flash a number of times and pause a number of times giving you a trouble code to help diagnose problems. Would this be true on the '87 Porsche? I know computer scan tools were not really used in the late 80's, not until 1990 did it really be used. Just wondering...http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/yltype.gif |
Porsche made a specific diagnostic tool to attach to that port but the computer is not OBD compliant.

I wonder if any one has a scanner that would work on it

Supposed to be a diode or be able to span two of the pins with a diode and read a blink code.

Any site or list of these codes?
I wanna try out the diode and see if I can get anything from it. |
i just read a panorama and/or post with information on this.
i'm thinking it was the last issue or the one before that... there was definitely an article in pano. check it out! |
I don;t have a subscription to the pano.
Is there a way someone could post the article? P.S. TPS is fine, clicks and all... see last post of "Now I've done it..." IAC? |
