a/c compressor interference

An unused bracket about midway on the body of my a/c compressor is resting on the front sway bar (!), same thing happened after I acquired car, so I installed new motor mounts (aftermarket-probably a bad idea in retrospect) to increase the clearance, but now the same thing is happening again. Could this be causing the increased vibrations I have been noticing?

Should I just grind or torch this bracket off - it's reinforced and pretty heavy duty, but doesn't serve any purpose - not sure if it would threaten the integrity of the compressor.

Other than that, plenty of wiggle room under the oil pan, and the clearance of everything else appears to be a-ok. I just believe that this compressor is a monster, though I have nothing to compare it to.

I live in FL so getting rid of the air isn't really an option.

Here's a pic:

I would suggest finding the real problem and fix it correctly. Common problem is the mounting bolt in the compressor is broken and needs to be replaced. See if you can move the compressor around or loosen the mounting bolts and retighten it. If they don't tighten, they are probably broken.
