You have two pounds of gold?

Dave101 04-24-2007 09:48 AM

hehehe. I figured it would be an arm or a leg or 2. lol

callmethewander 04-24-2007 01:07 PM

944 Ecology 04-24-2007 01:24 PM

We have a couple, and my kid does need to go to college!!!

Yes and it has been freshly re-built, with a 3 angle valve job and some "tighter" springs for a little exra RPM action. I am however using it right now.
Ok now that I have gotten that out of my system (sorry) It might be cheeper to buy an entire running car, that isn't a joke.

I have a whole S engine with 53k on the odometer, but I'm trying to sell the entire engine. $1500 + shipping.

And there it is. By the time you buy a head and a set of cams (price the cams alone) you have over $1,500. Any of the big shipping companies (UPS,FED EX) can ship an engine.

* I should mention that I have two guys who have offered to pick it up, pending approval from their wives. They asked first, so I guess I can add you to a list if you're interested. No money has changed hands, so I'm still offering it where there seems to be demand, though.

I had a second opinion offered to me that a low-mile 16v engine can run 1800-2k. I think 1500+the cost of shipping puts it in the buyer's hands for about that.

You may try these places, maybe they will sell a head.

Wow! Lots of info! Thank you all. I will get back to you on the engine yellowline. That may be the easiest way to do it. This is for a friend of mine that wants to get into Porsches.

odie 04-27-2007 12:00 PM

my 944S has a spun #2 bearing and has been sitting for 2 years. But I suppose it will continue to sit. Too nice to chop up to sell the head.

Sorry, but 2 pounds of gold looks like the best price so far...

nynor 04-27-2007 01:09 PM

throw an eight valve head on there.

Dave101 04-27-2007 01:50 PM

Hehe. If it would fit I would do it in a split second. But I doubt it will without even looking at 2 of them side by side. Or are you serious? I have never worked on a Porsche yet......

nynor 04-27-2007 02:55 PM

yeah, i am serious. i think it will bolt right up. may need different headers. i am sure someone will chime in on this one. diff head/camtower/headers and i think you are good to go. i see camtowers all the time on ebay for CHEAP.

nynor 04-27-2007 03:01 PM

oh yeah, and a different intake manifold, i bet.

8744S 04-27-2007 03:59 PM

Yes it does fit, my mechanic said so. He said that when the cam tensioners go people will put 8 valve heads on because it is cheaper that way, than rather rebuild the head because they are so hard to find.

Techno Duck 04-27-2007 04:14 PM

Something to consider is that the stock 16v pistons will not work. The relief cuts for the valves will be in the wrong spots for a 8v head.

nynor 04-27-2007 04:33 PM

BOLLOX! really?

Rick V 04-28-2007 03:26 AM

Just make me an insane offer for my car, then come and get the whole thing.
