crankshaft interchangeability

hey guys, getting an engine for a rebuild, its from 87 924s, one thing its missing is a crankshaft as it was used for another '87 engine. Could I use a crankshaft from my '84 944 for that engine during rebuild?

Thanks.

I'm uncertain, but I believe the cam housing/cam in the 8v 944 and the 924s would be the same. Which is good, because I'm looking for a cam housing.

I'll let the smart people confirm/deny that, though.

Dan, both have identicle drive trains. Yep, same crank. Why did he need a crank. Usually they go together? i.e. #2 bearing spun.

The 87 will have the updated spring tensioner on the timing belt or the mount for it if it's missing. That means some of the rollers on the front will be different. I have a spring tensioner if you need one.

Also have a spare cam tower assemly if somone needs it? But I'm in Ontario

hey Paul, cool that will work, Guy took off the crank for another engine he had, thats where he spun a bearing so he used this engine as a donor. As for the spring tensioner, he says there isn't one, not sure if its because its a 924S or maybe because its an early 87 engine, but either way if everything checks out and in the end I need a spring tensioner, I will call you Paul.

Thanks
