Dash Tick

I have a ticking noise under my dash area... sounds like from behind the instrument cluster. There is no pattern to the tick... i noticed if i turn the radio off.. it some times goes away. Whole instrument cluster works fine.. every thing electrical works fine too.

on another hand.. and maybe related.. the battery gague was almost hitting the red 16 at the top... then randomly popped back to the normal almost 14 area. The belt is tight because a few days ago it was dropping to the 12ish mark with fan and radio going..and noticed it was a little loose.

and one last to this now 3 parter... is there a light that says when the gas is gonna be out. because i dont see one when putting the battery on and the lights light up. and ive let it go close to empty im assuming cuz the pin is right on the orange line and ... no light.

thanks for the help guys.

1. Add the year/model to your sig. We can tell its an 85.5+

2. The radio relay could be clicking.

3. Run it out and see if the gas light works.

My gas tank has never gotten that low!

Radio relay sounds like a good place to start. Relays in the early 944s are in a different place (as far as I know) than the 87, so I am not much help there. The 87 relays are behine the instrument cluster, but they are also on the other side of the fire wall in the engine compartment.

there is both a gas light and a temperature light, but I've never seen either come on. in fact neither one of them even bulb checks.
