Another pulley question.
Whoever said that your tool shelves would grow with watercooled Porsches was correct. I am now trying to get the crankshaft belt pulley off. The Haynes shows them using a short pulley that obviously fits between the radiator and the belt drive. Is there a known pulley that works that someone can identify? Also, I can not tell if the gear has a shoulder or does the tip of the puller need to go inside the crankshaft. I noticed it is threaded inside after about 1/2 inch . I bet Chris has the answer.
Thanks Barry

Hi, don't know what you mean in the first part about a known pulley but I can answer the second part of your question. I left my crank bolt in most of the way and put the puller on top of the bolt to break it loose. You will need a puller with a larger diamiter area than the threads but smaller than the bolt diamiter. You will wipe out the threads if the diamiter is not right. If the bolt method does the trick with some BP blast around the area maybe try to take out the bolt a few more threads at a time and getting a rebite with your puller.
