water wetting agents in coolant--any risks?

We're all careful not to put phosphate anti-freeze in the cooling system--what about the new wetting agents? Are there any downsides--like to head gaskets, etc? And what is Porsche's official position, if they have one?

I use Water Wetter and it works no problems. Just don't expect dramatic results.

Alot of car companies now ADVISE the addition of a "wetter" in the coolant. I was working in an import shop for a while, and almost every recall notice that was related to the cooling system required it to be put in after the system was flushed and the new coolant was added.

I have run it in many of my vehicles, and have not had an issue. As a side note, I have also torn down several engines (due to other issues) that ran it and there has never been any sort of out of the ordinary build up in the cooling passages.

Just my 2 cents worth...

I have water and water wetter for track duty and it stays amazingly cool even when the temp is 120.

I work at what use to be Fel-Pro, a gasket manufacturer. We have several dyno cells and do allot of testing of gaskets and put our products on long term engine testing. Water Wetter works!!! No downside. I use it in all of my cars.
