Question Oil Pressure, how does this look?

After careful discussion with Vinny and Tom (Vinman & razorback) i made the change from M1 5w-30 to 15w-50

important to mention the car has no major leaks, and has been running very well. After the oil change the pressure is a little higher than what im used to. The engine is a rebuilt 85.5 engine, temp today here in NJ was about 75 degrees and the car was fully warmed up.

Cruising around 1900-2500 RPMs 4.5 - 4.75 bar

Idle 800RMP 2.5- 2.75 bar

going slow 1500 RPM 4 bar

does this jive with you guys?

im pretty paranoid about this oil weight change but a lot of users here were telling me that 5w-30 just wasnt the right weight to be running in jersey all year around..

That is the pressure that I have gotten on my guage for the past 3 years I have had the car. So if it's not good then it doesn't seem to matter to my car. If anything the car is running much better than when I bought it. I think your numbers are fine.

Looks good to me. I run 20/50 here in Maryland and get the same numbers. btw. who were you cursing at going 1900 to 2500?

okay cool, thanks for the feed back, clarks garage used to list ball park oil figures but i couldnt seem to find them.

the values with the 5w-30 were a bit lower than these, running around 4 bar and idling around 2 bar. I have no idea why the PO and the guy before him have run 5w-30? i hate rocking the boat but so many users (including the books) say that 'something heavier' than 5w-30 is recommended.

thanks guys!

In the "Garage Shop Manual" section under "Oil Pressure" then under "General Information and Troubleshooting."

Look it up for a more detailed answer.

Mine is actually a little lower than that, but I am running Rotella T Synthetic 5W40. Has been that way for the last 2 years or so and car seems happy. My theory is to run the lightest weight oil that keeps the oil pressure within spec. I like the Rotella because of the extra ZDDP, if the cat goes then oh well.
