O2 Sensor Wire Question

The part that the big single wire plugs into.. It's like a plastic bushing with a male connector up top on the back of the engine.

This part is so badly beaten on my 944. Is this a part that is readily available to purchase or am I going to have to rig something.

First, I'm not too well versed in the early cars, but I'll try to help anyway. Second, I am assuming you have a non-Califonia car so you have a single wire O2 sensor. According to the symbology I see on the FSM electrical schematics, if it's a male connector that is messed up, that is part of the O2 sensor wire harness and replacing it with a new OEM O2 sensor will fix your problem. If it's a female connector, that is part of the DME wiring harness. If you could post a clear picture(s) of the messed up connector, I can try to come up with part numbers (or you can cut one off a harness out of a boneyard). The wire from the DME to the O2 sensor socket is a coaxial cable. The shield is only connected at the DME end, so you only need to be concerned about the center conductor of the coax cable where it connects to the O2 sensor plug.

Its a california 3-wire.. I bought the Bosch OEM (expensive) replacement O2 sensor P/N 13001. The part that is all busted up is the part that the OEM harness plugs into which is bolted to the car.

It is a metal male contact that slides into the female slot on the actual o2 sensor harness (see picture)

It works as is, but the male end is very very flimsey and short for this world. Currently friction is holding it together, but it would be nice if I could get the part replaced so it will fit much more securely..
