Wow..I um..

Wow.

Hugh was ALWAYS that guy that first came to mind whenever I'd be under the hood of my '44 with a super sticky problem.

It was ALWAYS Socal...we all depended on his extensive knowledge and experience around here. Not just with our cars, but his general know-how with whatever the topic may be. The man did so much with so little time here on Earth.

All I can say is that I'll do my best to take everything he's given us and use it as he would have: to help others looking for the answers..

My heart grieves for his family...lets keep them in our prayers, Pelicanites.

We miss you, Socal..

This is a very sad day for me and I’m not really sure what to say exactly. Hugh was someone that I counted on and turned to often in my times of need and he selflessly gave to me expecting nothing in return. He patiently taught me (and others) on several occasions giving us the power and knowledge to help even more people making his contributions immeasurable.

Although I didn’t know his family, if he gave that much to us, one can only imagine how much he must have dedicated to them as serving others seemed to come as naturally to him as breathing does to me.

I will miss the wealth of information when I need it.
I will miss the helping hand when I didn’t know what to do
I will miss his passion for the 944
I will miss the encouragement he provided to pull the ratchet out of my garage drywall after a frustrating night
I will miss the calmness that prevented me from inventing more four letter words
I will miss the justification to keep my car when I am frustrated with this one
..but most of all, I will miss my friend.

So long Hugh….you are already missed by many from LA to Australia and everywhere in between.

Your friend...

I don't know what to say. I haven't been on the board that long but in my short time here it will surly be noticed that he is no longer posts here. He ws a wealth of information and seemed like he was always willing to lend a hand. His signature was one of the first things that I noticed. Makes me always think of my timing belt. Lol. My deepest regards to his family, esp this past Fathers Day.

Does someone know Hugh well enough to post a biography of him?

I was shocked to hear of Hugh's passing.

Our community has lost one of its most knowledgeable members; he will be sorely missed.

My condolences to Hugh's family.

I don't know if his family reads these posts but is there away that they can be copied and given to the family? By the number of views and posts, I think his family should know that Hugh will be missed and all of us are saddened by his loss.

No single source taught me more about the quirks of maintaining my 944 than Hugh.

I miss him. And I'm profoundly grateful to him.

WOW. I am shocked.

I have seen this post lingering over the last few days...... and it did not even cross my mind that we actually lost one of ours.

Hugh had an incredible wealth of knowledge. I am glad that his thoughts were captured on this forum.

We still have a little piece of Hugh.

You will be sorely missed.

Wow, I didn't even realise that this was real until about 2 pages down!!

I've been here long enough to know that SoCal was a true 944 Master. He will certainly be missed, especially when our cars stop working.

So sorry to hear this about a great helper to the Porsche community. One of the most knowledgeable sources of info for the Porsche 944 and a great teacher as well as very amusing and candid with advice. My condolences to the family and SoCal will be missed. I have saved many of SoCals postings and use them as troubleshooting guides as most of us here do, thanks SoCal, its great to see someone give so freely.

Hugh's obit was posted in The Orange County Register today.
Search 'Hubert'. You can leave a message for him in the guest book. I didn't know him but I've followed the posts since last weekend. I was looking for info on my daughter's 944 but it doesn't seem important now.
He had a lot of friends here.

This is the worst thing I have heard in quite awhile.

That guy would respond almost instantly to the inane questions I would post, and the only thing he got out of it was my gratitude.

My car (now Legion's) has parts of it that are working soley because of him. I am willing to bet that he was single-handedly responsible for keeping more than a couple 944s running.

I will be taking my Porsche out from under it's cover this week and driving it in honor of our late friend. It is the most fitting thing I can think of. He did a lot for our community here.

When I owned my 944, Hugh, (socal) was always trying to help me with the problem posts I made. I'm very sorry for his family's loss. May it remind us all to enjoy more of our minutes down here and concentrate on the small pleasures, I may have to speed this weekend as a homage.....

RIP Hugh.
