R134 recharge: drain problem

Okay so my car got converted to R134. The A/C is fantastic and I enjoy it a lot.

However, I do not enjoy the water that is coming out of my dashboard (!!!). It starts off at your feet and if you keep it on, the fan picks it up and shoots it out of the vents. It's awful. I've only let it get that bad once.

Where is the drain? It's quite obvious that the drain is clogged (or detached) and I can't find it. The water was going in everywhere, including the dash. It's not rain water, because it hasn't rained.

Thanks!

From the passenger side, check under the dash, behind the center console. There is a small crooked drain hose at the rear of the firewall that can come 'unplugged' and leak water into the footwells. Reconnect this through the padding to drain under the car.

Good luck.

It's INSIDE the cabin? Because I looked there and I didn't find too much. Thanks though!

Sounds to me like instead of being disconnected the crooked little drain hose is plugged. maybe run a wire through it and then some compressed air?

It is under the car. Dust can clog it up. Try a wire from underneath to break the clog.

I'll give it a crack on Monday when the weather clears up and I have access to a lift. Thanks for the direction!

Hey, Im having the same issue and cant find the damned drain either! Ive found the hose in the interior and it seems that it exits the interior directly above the torque tube. Did you find it on yours yet? and if so where was it??

So i couldnt give up and ended up finding the hose ending, and yes it is above the torque tube and can barely be reached just behind the rear edge of the aluminum heat shield. However, the hose is really accessible from the inside of the car if you remove the shelf and radio in the center console. Once you do that, its the hose right in the middle of the hole about 3 inches long. I just pulled the top part of the hose off of the housing and out came the water! i quickly squeezed the end of the hose a couple of times and then re attached it and i got between a quart and half of a gallon of water to drain out of the bottom of the car. I think this is the easiest way to do it and worked good for me, just make sure you have the radio and anything else electrical off and out of the way and some paper towels handy and do it quickly or else youll end up with all of the water inside the car. If squishing the tube doesnt work i would put it back on anyways before your car becomes a bathtub and get another tube that you can put on that would be long enough to drain out the door. Then you would have time to blow the drain out with air. Enjoy your A/C!

The part that was clogged on mine was the small rubber part (two inches long or so) that connects the upper and lower tubes. I took it out and cleaned it and now it drains fine. It's behind the radio.

I just fixed my A/C and have mold beginning to grow on the passenger footwell carpet because of the condensate leak. Guess I'll check my to do list to see what else I can accomplish "While I'm In There".
