Drain plugs .. and the fingers that fix em..
After another flash rainfall... the car was a bastard to me again...
The battery area and Fuse area were flooded as well.. On Iceys advice i decided to clean the drains... Holy cow did i ever find some fossilized tree helicopters and mud and rocks and a ton of crap.. the kicker was a few washers.. a few nuts .. AND A RAZOR BLADE... im stuffing my fingers in her hole.... trying to get the wet through... and i finally pull out the clog.. a razor blade... wtf??? it was OLD very very old... VERY VERY rusted and a little funny too... anyways.. im gonna do the roof ones... can some one tell me if they are attached to something inside like a hose.. or are they a metal shaft like the engine bay ones? i dont want to go poking a close hanger down there only to knock the hose out or something and then have to take the roof liner out to get it back in... Thanks a lot

they're attached to a hose. dont go poking around hard...
pull the rear carpets and you should be able to find the ones for the rear sunroof in the rear side cubbys (white hoses).. the front hoses are at the very corners of the engine bay, under the lip of the fender and/or under the lip of the windshield. i got a measuring cup and poured a little water down each drain... that may help you find the hoses if you're having trouble (find the puddle on your driveway!)

Thanks man.. ill get her sorted out tomorrow...
I found the ones under the hood... but there doesnt seem to be a hose... just a hole to the ground... Pour some water down there and it splashes on the ground... good/bad?

the 944s may be different and drain to the ground... not 100% sure on that one.

There should be a hose for the front ones. Not a real big deal if you don't have them so long as it's not letting water run though the engine compartment or the passenger compartment. It's just a matter of where it dumps the water. My hoses from the front fenders dump right by the middle of my doors. I used a wire coat hanger and water to clean all my hoses out real well.
The back sunroof tubes are easy to reach. Unscrew and pop the clips on the back side panel of the car. You'll see all the tubes. I think those ones dump out near the little side cubbies if I remeber correctly. There are two hoses where the two back pins are for the rear hatch. The back spolier also has two drain areas that get plugged. I used the coat hanger to clean that area out too. Mine were plugged solid so when it rained or the car went through the car wash water would pool on the back spolier. You also have a hose for the fuel tank overflow. That hose connects to the passenger side sunroof hose. It was not hard to clean out, but a little tricky to get back together. There is a metal piece in the fuel door that connects to the hose. Not a real big deal, just a little tricky to figure out.

Use the same wire coat hanger for the fuel overflow hose. I think they may be a metal mesh screen in there too, I don't remeber for sure though.

Dude, put the razor blade back, or better yet, replace it with a new one. Running your car without the razor blade can cause more problems than a broken timing belt!

There are also two white hoses running down from the front of the sun hatch on the inside - one under each of the front door pillar trims.

Why not just use an air compressor to blow out the hoses? No worries about poking a hole with a hanger and whatnot then. That's what I use, anyway.

on the battery box and fuse box drains there are no hoses they just drain into the fenders. i have both fenders off of my 87 951 and thay is the way they are. it would worry me if ones fender was replaced and there was no under body coating sprayed or applyed to the new fender as it would rust out. i can take some pictures if you would like..

Obviously, if you've exposed the hoses by pulling the panels / trim this isn't such an issue as you can see what's going on.

When my i helped my friend gut the interior of his '88 celica, we found a rusted razor blade, a small portable scale, and the dried-up cap of a mushroom that does not belong in your salad...
