924 S CV / Diff Problems

'88 924 S w/MO30 & factory LSD. Suspension, including diff & CV joints & axles replaced/rebuilt by premier Porsche race shop less than 500 miles ago. Yesterday, starting out under slight acceleration, heard clunk from rear. Clutch feels ok, shifter engages all gears but car won't go. Let the clutch out and there's a nasty groan/clunk from rear. Got under car, noticed drivers side inner CV has several fasteners sticking out about a 1" - obviously very loose. Don't want to mess with things until shop has a chance to look at it but am curious - any suggestions?

Yeah. Tighten those NOW! All of them.

Then smack the guys in the shop upside the head. Do tell, which
"premier" Porsche race shop???

I have cross-drilled and safety-wired all of mine on the racecar to avoid this.

EDIT - correction. If they're backed out 1" or so - they're already completely out. They'll need to be realigned, and there's a good chance some are broken. Sounds like a great opportunity for your race shop to show their diligence...

Appreciate your reply. The car is being towed to their shop tomorrow, want them to see things as they are. Hope the only problem is the CV & not the diff. I will insist they saftey wire everything. Great shop (Pro GT3 RSR), don't want to slam them, I'm not happy, but mistakes happen. Car made it through a DE without killing me!
