Really need help here.. A/C >_<
 

I hate to bring this up, but I'm still having trouble finding the low side of my AC on my '87 944. I'm pretty sure that the high side is the one running up the driver's side fender, and that I need to leave that one alone. So can somebody tell me exactly where the port is? A picture would be a godsend. Thanks.

i have an '87 924s, and i just got my AC recharged, i watched the guy do it, and he used the port right by the driver's side head light, that's where you will be able to see if you have an solution still inside. i would take a picture and send it to you but honestly i dont even know how to put a picture in these posts. if anyone could tell me i will take a picture and post it.

The ones that run from the compressor to the front of the car are high pressure - you want the line from the interior of the car running back to the compressor - that's the low side

hmm, if you supposed to put it in the low port, then i'd like to know where the low part is too? can u describe where it is?

as for the port - I was under the impression the port behind the driver's headlight was the high pressure side, and carries 200+psi of pressure... this is surely not the correct port (if I'm right in what I've heard).

I think its because the early and late models have different locations, at least thats what I've been told.

IIRC, the one behind the headlight is high on all cars; on late models there's a port on the bottom side of the compressor. Early cars have it on top; you have to swing the compressor down to get at it.

so when recharging an 87 924s would u connect the hose to the port by the headlights or the bottom side of the compressor??

Someone with a late chime in (I have an early), but bottom side.

There's no port behind the headlight on my car... the only one I can clearly see is the one running up from behind the coolant tank on the driver side fender.

I've been told that this is the high side, and there's not two ports here, like I've seen on a single pic of an '86.

your first picture is indeed the high side fitting, however your last pic is NOT an A/C service port!!

Your low side port will always be on the larger diameter line coming off the compressor. Likewise the high side is always on the smaller line. I would be willing to bet there is a port somewhere on the larger line besides one right next to the compressor. Alot ob BMWs are the same way, there are service ports right by the compressor, but there are also ports further down the line. The ports near the compressor are usually used for reference pressures for testing for a clogged orifice.

I just recharged my '87 924S. Low side fitting (on my car) is on the firewall behind the cam tower. A pleasant surprise. Yes, A/C is great, but I now have mold growing on the passenger floor carpet. Guess I have a plugged evaporator drain tube.

The cam tower is the big thing that says PORSCHE. Just look for the biggest metal thing there that says it.
