924 +or - ground
have a 1977 924 is it pos or neg ground ? the red cable is bolted to body by battery the black cable goes to starter is this right or did somebody change cables

Sounds like someone changed the cables. It is a Neg. ground car.

I don't believe that there are any 12-volt cars with a positive ground. I seem to remember positive ground as a 6-volt quirk. I'm likely to be wrong here though since that was before my time.

Hi, some late 50's or early 60's british cars like a TR3 were 12 volt positive ground. They used to make AM radios that you could flip a switch for pos or neg ground.

Hi, I am sure your 924 is negative ground. I was just saying that they did at one time years ago have positive ground cars to answer an earlier thread.

I have a 77 924 as well and it is neg ground. My ground is red as well and black goes to the starter too. You're ok.
