Can anyone loan me a OPRV alignment tool?
 

The title says it all. Would anyone be willing to loan me an OPRV alignment tool for the oil cooler housing. I'm pretty sure it needs to be the one for the later version of the OPRV, but correct me if I'm wrong.
I'd rather not spend $40 if I only need it once.

you dont need the tool if its a later version 944, i have a 87 and did the oil cooler job without the tool. I did purchase the tool but i did not use it because i could not figure out how to use it or it might be the wrong one. I paid 68.00 shipped from pelican and it took a month. they charge an extra like 12% cause its ordered from the manufacturer.

I have an alignment tool as well and didn't use it when I did my oil cooler last, but if you want to borrow it you are more than welcome to. PM me if you still need one.

Sounds to me like it's not really needed, since I'm pretty sure mine is the later style valve. I think I'll just go ahead and do it. If I run into trouble, I'll borrow one.

I just finished the cooler seals without an alignment tool, and the oil pressure works fine. Thanks for the heads up, guys. I'm really lucky, because the oil cooler still had the early red o-rings on it, and it never leaked during the 20,000 miles I've driven it. They were kind of soft and mushy! :eek: I feel doubly relieved now.

Btw, that was one of the worst jobs I've had to do on my car so far. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/splat.gifI wasn't able to remove the exhaust manifolds because the Y-pipe joint bolts were hopelessly frozen. This made re-installation of the cooler assembly a total nightmare. I'm glad it's over. No leaks yet. I guess I'll know for sure in a couple days.

yeah, with the manifolds/headers off it's cake. otherwise it's a major PIA...as you well know.
