MS has thier own forum where you can post questions and such. That is where the gurus hang out. Happy Megasquirting

Oppps the link didn't take you to the forums. click on the link and you will notice a blue column on the left hand side of the screen. Scroll down the column until you see

"MegaSquirt Support Forums"

Click on it and you can select the right forum for what type of question you have.

There are also the MSExtra(www.msextra.com) forums if you're interested in running MS1/Extra or MS2/Extra.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any one running MS2/Extra, since it might run on our cars without the tooth divider.

The new B&G beta code will do it too. The problem is that we still need the second VR circuit for the reference sensor.

I'm planning on doing a plug and play system by the end of the summer and I'll make sure I document it for anyone else who wants to try it.

I think I saw your post on the microsquirt forum about that?

I've been thinking about Megasquirt for a while, but I'd need to be able to pass smog with it, so it needs to work well and I want a fairly clean install so the techs don't notice.

I think a microsquirt board is small enough to fit into the stock DME box, which would make for a super stealth install. The only thing you'd have to worry about the inspectors finding is the IAT sensor. On an n/a even that could be concealed in the old AFM box if you wanted to reuse the AFM connector and wire to serve a different purpose.

The plug and play sounds quite nice. Keep us posted on your progress, I am leaning pretty heavily towards doing a megasquirt system for my turbo conversion so that makes things sound even better.

Yeah with all the people frying/turning up with bad ECUs there ought to be an alternative to the stock 9201(?) DME; this, and the dwindling supply of good DMEs out of junkyards.

-A write up of installing a megasquirt into a 944 would be gold.

I have thought about it........... but everytime I look at the binder of information I have piled up it kinda turns me off.

I even have a few sheets showing the details of making the harness and how to plug it right into the engine bay plug.

Maybe in a cold winter day...... I will put it together.

Bottom line. ANyone contemplating this has to get acquainted with the MS site.

75% of the info is there.

The other 20%......... wiring routing, sensor options, timing and fuel maps, tips and tricks is out there on the net

The final 5% is what will get the car started and running well. That is car and enthusiast specific.... it is not rocket science by any stretch of the imagination. Common sense and some mechanical ability is all it takes..

Winter is around the corner no upgrade plans for the car this winter so I should have some time.

But then again we might be squirting JustinLs NA with that microsquirt ..........

If anyone goes down the path I am sure we can all lend a hand when they get stuck.

I'm down with building the ECU,
-I'm on summer break and have been considering building one just for fun. I'm thinking the Original MS-1 processor with the board version 2.2 or something.
-Whatever I put decide to put it into, it will indefinitely be older, so the 40 pin connection is what I'll probably build. I will build whatever fits a '44 best though.

The plan for the N/A is to do a microsquirt setup once it's available. I'm on the waiting list for the first batch, which should be available in the next couple weeks. Once it arrives, it's a matter of getting it installed, running, and then tuned.

I see it as an open source project, so I'll document and photograph all the steps.

Sounds good.
Was there some group buy or some other sort?
How is the one you ordered different/specific to the '44?
