removing locking lugnut with no key
Yup, I lost the key. Any tips for removal from those of you who wouldnt admit you've done the same lol.
Thanks in advance !!!!!! |
Mine only worked about half the time so I drilled them out.
|
I've bought auction cars that came with no key. A 19mm or 3/4 circle cutter will shave off the nut without damaging the lug, if done carefully.
|
snap on makes a tool that will remove them
i refuse to use locking lugs - i don't worry as much about people stealing my wheels as i do the problems with correct torque, and the lock screwing up, or the key getting lost - besides, that's what insurance is for |
A chisel on the face of the key hole works well :). The old style locking lugs are basically garbage.

thanks
Is everybody playing hookey from work today lol. Thanks guys.

if I wake up and my wheels are gone tomorrow, I'll know who to come after ;)

I used to be a locksmith, and they are VERY easy to pick!
Actually you can pick them with 2 bobby pins (found in most womens purses) Hope it helps! -Nick |
When I bought my car, the PO didn't have the wheel lock key.
I also used a locksmith. It took 10 min. to pick the lock and make a new key. And only cost $25.00. Had them make a few keys, just in case I loose one. |
