81 924 shortblock turbo or not????
bought a 81 shortblock for my 77 the 81 pistons are different the recess is offset and valve recess is deeper is this a turbo block if so can i use it how do you tell if block and head is turbo or not

try 924board.org. folks there know a lot more about the 924's. although there are very knowledgeable people here, as well.

81na pistons are different - 9.0:1 compression instead of the 8.0:1 (or 8.5:1 if it's a '77.5 release) pistons. 931's don't have valve recesses, they're interference engines. No use in cutting recesses for the valves to not collide *as much* if the timing belt snaps!
