Snow tire sizes

Hi,

I have been reading that we might not want to go with the same size snow tire as summer tire (namely smaller).

Does anyone have any recommendations on what size front/rear I should go for?

Thanks!

Typically you want to go -1 on the sizes. So stock sizes being 205/55/16 and 225/50/16 on your 951. I would personally go 205 front and maybe 215 rear.

Get a winter beater. $500 or so will get you an older Subaru wagon.

or $250 gets you a set of snow tires for your nice galvanized car that doesn't suck to drive.

205-55-16's all around or 205-55 front and 205-60 rear if it's a closer match height wise.

True, but I don't trust other drivers.

I'm fine in the snow...people keep hitting ME when it snows out. I'd rather not have that happen in the "good" car.

I understand going -1 on the sizes. Therefore don't want an even skinnier front tire?

you could get a 185 or 195 if you wanted, but a 205 is narrow enough to cut through the snow I'd think.
