yes, more coolant problems for my car

I have a few questions, as my coolant problems never seem to end.

What is the pressure of the porsche radiator cap?

What would happen if you have a cap with a higher pressure?

What can cause oil in the coolant, but no coolant in the oil? (head gasket, or something else?)

How does the oil cooler work? Does the car cycle coolant through the oil cooler?

As much as I really love my 944 these never ending coolant problems are really getting me mad. I just want to be able to drive my car without worrying every time I come to a stop light because the temp is going to rise. Or worry about where my coolant is disappearing to. Or why there is always oil in my coolant.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hi, oil in the coolent would most likely would be your oil cooler o rings are leaking and will need to be replaced. Coolent in the oil is a headgasket leak. I have head that you need to buy an alignment tool to install your oil cooler once you have put in the new new o rings to make sure there are no leaks when the job is done but I have not had to do this myself as of yet. These cars are older and need attention just like anything else. But parts are more expensive and some things are very hard to fix like the clutch and waterpump. I just had to replace my radiator over the weekend and even though it was a few years old I hit a curb with my air dam and it pushed into my radiator causing a little annoying leak.

I have a 16lbs cap on there now. What would happen if I put a 7lbs cap on it?

I was thinking that the oil cooler in the engine could cause oil to go into the coolant, but wasn't sure.

I am glad to here that it wouldn't be the head gasket.

I have owned this 944 for about 2 year now, and I have had coolant problems the whole time. It is just one thing after another. Love the car though.

Hi, you could try a 7lb radiator cap as a temporary measure if you wish but I would fix the problem as when oil cooler o rings get really bad they let coolent get into your oil and ruin your main bearings!
