Need Help Please!!!
Iam am pulling an engine from a 88 NA 944 with auto trans and cannot separate the engine from the torq tube. In looking at the diagrams http://www.pelicanparts.com/PartsLookup/HTML/944_2_USA_85_88_KATALOG/307-00-Frame3.htm
I see a pinch bolt on the shaft inside the bell hsg and a circlip at the end of the shaft. This would prevent the motor from simply sliding of the shaft as ref. in ENG-01, Engine Removal Can anyone please tell me what I should do to remove this? |
I believe that pinch assemb can be accessed through the observation port (covered by cap #20 in the photo you referenced) Through there, you should be able to loosen the clamp to remove the shaft.

I have done that, but it is a real BIATCH!

It gets to the pinch collar and stops. I have tried prying btween the housing and tube flange, tried to work it at diff angles, wiggle, but nothing. Does anyone have some experience with this, or even a wild ass suggestion at this point?

I've never done this and I could be completely off base, but someone tried to explain it to me one time. If I remember, there are three? bolts that hold a rubber coupler (doughnut). You need to remove these bolts. I think you will have to rotate the coupler to get to each of them.

I can see a rubber disc with beveled sides beteween the pinch collar and the flywheel, but no sign of any bolts.
