Speedo issue
My 1984 944 has a problem with the speedometer. It will sometimes display the correct speed up to about 15-20 mph. Once you get above this range, the speedo jumps to around 110 mph and shakes. My mechanic replace the speedo cable a while back, but the problem continued. Does it sound like I need to repair/replace the speedo? I hate to spend $250 for a repair or $400 to replace if that is not it. If I do have to replace, have any of you replaced your speedos with aftermarket ones? What would I need to look for when replacing with a non-stock model?
