New (To Me) 1984 Beater

I just picked up an '84 as a beater to get me around while building my Audi. I love the car so far, (even though it's slow as hell) so I'm trying to get it back into decent shape. Here are a few pictures:

That pretty much sums it up. I spend most of my time between work and school in the garage, so I'll be posting questions soon enough.

Thanks.
I bought them for Auto-X because they are so damn light.

Garage
Reminds me of my friends yellow S4, same generation. Doing the clutch, downpipe and intercoolers this weekend. The clutch job basically turned into a huge "While we are in there with half the freaken motor apart we should...". Hes been collecting the parts for the last 4 months now. Dont think we will be getting any sleep this weekend .

So far, I have a new shift lever and bushings, as well as a short shift kit on the way. Also, a leather boot is on order.

One of the brake rotors is warped (you can feel it when you're braking) so I'll get some new discs and pads all around.

Next up, I need to figure out why the tach reads intermittently. Anyone know what it gets its signal from?

Check the front wheel bearings before you buy rotors and pads.

Alright, I've pretty much decided what's going to go on with this car. Besides what I already mentioned:

- The front right wheel bearing is bad... I'll get the Hub Shark out and replace the bearings on both sides.
- The front lower control arms are stuck to the car. I'm going to give them a PB Blaster bath and replace them with new OEM ones with new bushings. I might upgrade to the Fabcar arms at some point, but it seems unlikely.
- The wheels are out of round, so I'll try and borrow a set of Twists from a friend while I get the stockers repaired.
- There is an aftermarket head unit and amps/speakers/crossovers in the car. I will take them out, and clean up the wiring.
- The grounds need to be cleaned up. It's a 24 year old car, so that's expected.
- The motor is in surprisingly good shape. I might do a minor tune-up, but I'll most likely drive it until it dies. After that, I'll either rebuild it, or get an S2 motor. The turbo motor is out of the question, as I have access to more turbo four bangers than anyone would ever want. The LS1 swap is still on the table...
- The foglight lenses are cracked, and there are a few things that need fixing in the interior.
- The window tint that was on the car is peeling off, and I need to remove it.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

You look away for ONE second and your beater magically turns into a project car!

It's a disease.
