It's like a different car!

I missed my 944... SWMBO has been driving it and it's also had some functional issues... anyway finally got at and replaced the starter last weekend, dropped it off to have the tires balanced, and ended up driving by my house on my way back to the office from a meeting this PM... took the opportunity to give it a run on the highway to see if the shimmy was gone... wow what a difference! It's the little things... now it doesn't shake and rattle and generally sound like a dying POS when starting, and rides nice and smooth. got to fix the last few issues with it. Right now it's riding the smoothest that it has since I got it, the place I took it to used one of those new "road force balancers" I guess it is not a gimmick because it is damn near perfect. They told me all my rims were dead straight too which is nice to know. I guess I will have them do my snow tires too and then I'll feel comfortable having a set powdercoated.

just thought I'd share my little moment of joy...

Now, one minor issue. Apparently when it's 95 degrees out, the A/C in my (black) car just isn't getting it. Is that normal, or should I take it back to the shop and have them vacuum/flush/recharge it?

She Who Must Be Obeyed... her Corrado has been disassembled for quite some time now, and since she takes the Metro to work it's not really a big deal, but she does steal the Porsche on weekends whenever she wants to go somewhere...

black is the worst color in a hot area for good a/c.

how cold is the air coming out of the vents after 10 min of driving, i'll see 48 but it's not real hot where i am.

yes, the vent temp should be in the 40's at highway speed. I had a black firebird in Arizona for many years. I found a white dashboard cover helped reflect the sun from the black dash and the AC would cool of quicker. That only worked for the dash, though. The rest of the car still absorbed heat like the space shuttle. Also leaving he winders cracked half an inch when parked helps. My next car was white!

my 44/51s have not cooled the car at 95F in traffic, but frosty on the highway in any heat

My a/c is pretty cold, even when idling. Just had it recharged...
