1st real road trip for the 944

Well after almost two years of just running around town I had to go from St Louis to Chicago for business this week. I was going to fly, then take one of the other cars, but from under the cover in the garage I heard:

"take me, please take me, I'll be good" the 944 was speaking to me. I gassed it up despite my wife's protests of "it's too old, it probably won't go that far w/o breaking, it's not safe".

700 miles and absolutely no problems. The car runs GREAT. When these little cars get going on the highway they will roll. Coming back I averaged 85MPH for 3 hrs. The mileage was not even bad: 20 vs 12 in my AMG

.

I had to go to the Bears store @ Soldier Field while there

A view out of the window of the building we are helping design, I hate heights but the view is great!

Little motor / big heart

Back home ready to go back under the cover

actually the rear is quite nice to, looks like you've done some nice mods.

I have done a few things. It's debateable w/ the purists if I have "ruined a classic car" or as I like to think, taken a really neat little $3500 car and made it into an expression of what I want. The old ones are easy to work on and really do run well when done right. Unfortunately the old N/As don't lend themselves to a lot of engine mods. I found out the hard (read expensive) way.
