944 air filter

hi im wondering if its possible to fit a cone air filter into an 85.5 944NA. i currently have the stock box air filter. i know is been done on turbos and s type havent seen much done on the NA. is there something different to be done to transform or do i just remove my old box and install the new one. also any suggestions to brands and where i can buy a good one would help. if u want u can email me at ay9541@wayne.edu

thank you

do a search. there is a lot of controversy/opinions about the cone filters.

my .02: leave it stock. its easy. its cheap. it works well. there is a cold air snorkel built into the system.

You can use a cone filter on the car but you will be sucking hot air from above the rad. just buy a K&N to fit the factory airbox and drive on.

instead of a cold air intake you would have a hot air intake which you would decrease the air density and lessen HP. Stock box with a stock filter is best.

Detach the snorkel from the airbox and you'll get a really nice intake sound, especially with a K&N filter. The intake stub is still kind of out of the way of the radiator and angles down toward the wheel well. It doesn't do that well in traffic on a hot day, but what difference does performance make in traffic anyway? Besides, you can just snap it back on if you don't like it. It's better than drilling the top like some do. It really does sound awesome!! esp at WOT @3500 rpms.

Btw, not that it matters, but the narrowest point in the end of the snorkel is actually a little smaller than the Throttle body bore. I know the AFM is the biggest restrictor, ect ect, but it makes me feel good!
