944 airbag light and main alert (!) light blinking rapidly
Anyone ever experience these two lights flashing? I tried reading the airbag faults and also tried resetting the airbag system with no luck. Car is an '87 944 turbo with passenger and drivers side airbags. It has about 130k ont the clock and these blinking light scenario started last week while pulling out of my driveway at 5:45 am while heading off to work. That big (!) light blinking was VERY distracting while driving in the dark!
I have the service manuals and hooked a momentary switch to ground to the middle #2 terminal of the airbag white molex connector and used a stop watch repeatedly to try to get the codes to flash as well as trying to reset....nothing... I even disconnected the battery overnight and tore the clock spring out of the steering column.....it checked out fine. If I can't fix this without buying all new airbag components, I would like to just disable the system entirely to get the d@mn "airbag" and "!" lights to go out. Does any one know how to do this without completely disabling the "!" warning light?
