Manual window question Hopefully someone can help with some questions about switching from power to manual windows. I currently have an '83 944 with power windows. I picked up a set of manual window lifters from an 87 944. However, unlike my current power window lifters they don't have the same three plastic rollers at the ends of the arms. Can anyone tell me where/how this big white attachment works? http://snydermotorsports.tripod.com/temp/window2.jpg http://snydermotorsports.tripod.com/temp/window1.jpg Thanks, Rick |

Bump - Anyone have any idea what this white connection piece is or how it attaches to the window tracks??? Thanks in advance. Rick |

http://www.pelicanparts.com/944/944_parts/944_83-85/Pic78.jpg You're missing a slider (8) 94453758900 Guide Rail. The pics and part numbers are the same for both years. |

I actually have that piece, it's just not in the picture. So, you are saying I have the orientation of the movable arm wrong? That the white plastic piece connects to the guide rail mounted to the inside of the door? That would make the little plastic rollers be on opposite sides of the arms that actually contact the window. That's not how the power windows are. So, does that mean there is also a different set of guides that need to be attached to the window itself?? Thanks, Rick |

Are you making your 944 into a track car or something? I am confused why you are converting from electric to manual otherwise... Im just curious... The only reason I have ever sean os to cut out weight and make it a track car... |

Yes, this car will eventually be a track car, but I'm also sick of dealing with power window motors and switches that don't work from time to time. It gets really annoying when the window will go down, but not back up. Rick |

i also would like to do the conversion, because power windows are heavy, and it's one less thing to go wrong. anyone got a set of manual window cranks they'd like to sell me? heck, i'd even trade my power setups and pay for all the shipping! |

Ok, I'll give that a try this week. Thanks for the information and I'll let you know how it goes. Rick |
