one more for the sunroof issues

I've searched this one & don't see an answer, so any advice is appreciated. After enjoying some fall weather in the 944 (early model), when I went to close the sunroof from the tilted position...and nothing happened...nada. It doesn't even sound like the motor is engaging; however, when pressing the ''up'' position on the switch, you can still clearly hear the motor kicking in.

I figured it was probably either the console switch or one of the directional relays, but they both test fine (even put in another sunroof switch for giggles, still same result). Could it be one of the 2 limit switches preventing it from closing?

What position was the ignition switch in? The console rocker switch does different things in ignition switch position #1 & #2.

Okay, forgive my moron moment...I narrowed down the first problem. The white piece that attaches to the dog had somehow become separated and stopped directly under the limit switch...thus the motor only spooling up when engaging the switch in the "up" direction.

Unfortunately now there's a new problem. Now that the dog is reattached, its total range of motion when operating the switch is only about 2 inches in either direction...so the sunroof is naturally only moving about an inch up or down now. It never even gets back to anywhere near the limit switches. Watching the slip clutch screw, it only moves about 2/3 of a full turn.
