84 944 Hard Fuel Lines

Fuel supply and return lines from engine to gas tank show signs of rust in the area near the driver seat.
What is the best way to replace the rusted lines?
It appears that these are a 1 piece line starting in the engine compartment with flexible hose to hard-lines all the way back to near the differential to a threaded connection. The lines snake around the torsion bar housing. (i.e. hard to install a 8 or 10 mm lines that is pre bent and just as difficult to bend in place)

Suggestions? replace the section of line that passes underneath the car by cutting and installing a new section with the appropriate fittings?

I did review an old thread on the forum, if my understanding of the thread was correct, there was alot of talk about the engine compartment lines an the ways / methods to attach to the existing hard lines in / near the brake booster area.

Appreciate if you could share your experience with this issue, if any.

Thanks

I had to replace my fuel line on a '88 951. This one goes along the passenger side, but sounds like it is similar to yours.

I got a stock line (2, actually) to replace it from the Porsche dealer. The replacement has a break in it under the front footwell - presumably to afford easier installation. Make sure to get both pieces if you go this route, as PET doesn't show the 2nd piece. Get the connector part as well.

I had to drop the rear link and fight mightily to get the front part in place, but it did fit.

You can get some other solutions that will connect in the front wheel well from aftermarket sites. Some are better than others, it looks like.

Good luck with your fix!

Good Stock is hard to beat. Here's one that doesn't require special Porsche tooling.
