Seeking advice for this project

Hey all,
I'm planning on dropping the gas tank (I'm certain it has a leak at the top) on my 87 924S in a couple of weeks and trying to plan out the project ahead of time so I don't get too many fun surprises when I finally do it..... Heres a couple questions I've been looking for help with..

1. I found a guy that is selling a "plastic" tank he parted out from an 88 944. I asked him about this because I didn't think Porsche made plastic tanks for that year... his response is that it " looks like a plastic material".... is this acurate?

2. Does anybody know if this tank (from an 88 944) is compatible with an 87 924?

3. I've never dropped the tranny on this car.... what is difficult about this job and what should I watch out for?

4. Can anyone tell me what the fuel lines are at the top of the tank.... can't seem to find any listing... I'm planning on replacing these as well...

5. Any other advice, stuff I need to consider?

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate the time alot of you guys take to explain stuff on this site... definitely helped me through a few projects so far.
Chris

Do a search on this site, this has come up a a bunch of times with much information shared. I was getting ready to drop the tank of my 924S, thinking I had the dreaded leak. The last thing I did was replace the gas cap for $9.45. Problem solved, no more fumes inside......

Good Luck,
Jon

Very good info here: Gas fumes? Tank leaks? Read this.. Also a good time to replace tank to pump dried fuel hose -$9.50 genuine Porsche on Pelican.
