Removing all a/c components
The a/c compressor on my 87 n/a is broken, one of the tabs is broken off, i dont use the a/c anyway, and the hoods off anyway, so im going to reomve all a/c components.
First and most importantly, does this pose any problems to anythign whatsoever, thanks josh |
You need to get an A/C delete bracket to put back in...

I have heard of a way that you just use a short belt and don't relocate the Alt. I am just unsure of the method of tensioning.

The only way to adjust the accessory belt tension is a turnbuckle attached to the A/C compressor. If you remove the A/C compressor, you have to relocate the alternator with an A/C delete kit so you can adjust the belt tension. On cars with A/C, the alternator is hard bolted to the block and has no means of adjusting accessory belt tension.

I did this over a year ago. I'm glad I did. The alternator is much cooler (instead of snug up against the turbo). I also get better airflow through the radiator without the condenser.

Who all sells the AC delete bracket?

There is a Porsche-made one. Pelican will have it.
There are also several aftermarket brackets. I have the one from Lindsey Racing. |
