Tire size help.

I have searched all over for tires for an 85.5 944. Front rims are j7x15 and rears are j8x15. The current tires are not the correct size for these rims. Front 225/50/15, rear 245/50/15. I have asked the major online and local tire shops what tires would be correct for these rims. None will give me new tire sizes, due to liability. The owner’s manual lists 215/60/15 for both the front and rear. Any suggestions for new tires?

Thanks

i think you're screwed - nobody makes much in a 15 anymore

i recommend either staying oem in tire size, or getting new rims that allow more choices

Try this website to get sizing.

Flash is right, that there arent a whole lot of choice in 15 or even 16 inch rims when it comes to high performance tires. The 225/50/15 is almost an inch shorter than stock but you could get some Dunlop SP sport 9000's or Yok AVS ES100's in that size.

215/60/15 are the correct size for 7j rims. 195/65/15 will also fit and have close to the same circumference as the 215 tires.
The 8 J can take wider tires - 225/50 or 225/55 (I think??).
Check the web for tire calculators to give the same circimference as the 215/60/15

Michelin Pilot HX MXM in a 225/55-15 is as close as i think you are going to get in anything wider and lower profile - even it is a half inch smaller OD though - it is also a grand touring tire, and not a performance tire, and $171 each

i think you can do better by grabbing somebody's bigger wheels with tires on them
