The nylon mesh is pretty cool stuff. We used it for years in prototype airplane design. It is available here in St Louis @ a really weird recycle electronics store (Gateway Electronics) as is the heat shrink. Let me know if you can't find any and I probably have some laying around I can send you. It makes for a pretty professional final result.

The molded connectors that fit the H4s as well as any other 3 pin light are available @ Auto Zone. Do yourself a favor and solder everything vs crimps. The brand of light will not make any difference, getting proper current (and not running it through the stock wiring) is the key. I'm not nearly as smart as a lot of the engineer guys that post here but I did manage to retire relatively early w/ a couple ideas I had that my brother (who is a patent attorney) helped me bring to market. The 944 is a really cool car and lends itself to some great mods at a decent price. I have absolutely been ripped a new a-hole by purists who insist that I have destroyed some car that will be worth it's weight in gold someday. I prefer to look at it as a fun platform to play with. The one mistake I made was trying to get big power out of an N/A. It was a VERY expensive learning experience.

Take care and let me know if you need any of the minor parts or a schematic.

To add a bit for reference:

Lighting harnesses are available from www.rennbay.com

Other lighting elements (bulbs, connectors, lenses, and knowledge) are available at www.danielsternlighting.com and www.rallylights.com

There is cool wire harness parts available from http://www.waytekwire.com/ , including nylon & fiberglass sleeving, shrink sleeve, connectors, splices, etc.

And if you don't know how to solder and don't want to learn, West Marine usually stocks marine grade crimp connectors that either come with, or can be bought with shrink sleeving that has an adhesive in it to seal the connection.
