968 clutch pedal resistance continues
Sorry if you have read this before, but I wanted to reach out one final time for info.....
My 968 has an incredibly stiff pedal. It must have started out previous to me owning the vehicle, as the firewall had a number of cracks in it. As the clutch pedal was depressed, the master cylinder moved forward significantly... obviously not good. After patching the firewall, re-installing the master cylinder, replacing the fork pin and bearings, and havng the system professionally bled, the pedal continues to be way too stiff...to the point the firewall will fail again unless additional bracing is provided. This has been an east coast car all its life, and I have heard of others on the east coast with this similar problem, however no one has provided info as to how they may have overcome this problem. One suggestion indicated the welded patch may have put the clutch master cylinder out of alignment, but I really do not think this is the case due to the fact there is no rubbing or binding of the pedal or actuator rods throughout the pedals travel. The pedal moves smooth throughout its travel with even pressure... just way too much resistance. Any thoughts other than the ones previously posted? Thanks

The cracking firewall is only a result of the stiff clutch action.
What normally happens is that the needle bearings on the release fork shaft siezes due to clutch dust and grease drying up. Overtime, the needle bearings dig in to the shaft and siezes thus resulting to stiff clutch pedal.
