Steering Leak Questions

I was wondering about a leak I have in the Steering. Not 100 percent familiar with the steering of the Porsch. I have a pretty good leak on the passengers side steering. Looks to be coming from the boot area. Possible O-ring shot? Is there a rebuild kit for these? Is there something I can put in the system to slow it down? Thanks Mike

The leak is most likely from the power steering pump. Rennbay has a rebuild kit for it, not sure if pelican does though. it could be coming from the resivour though, so check the hoses there and make sure they are tightened down. the PS system in our cars are known to leak. You may need to replace the sway bar bushings since the fluid destroys those.

If it's a small leak you can live with it, just check the levels.

The leak could be from the two previously mentioned places but it could also be from the rack. There are rebuild kits for that and you can search and find detailed intrustions on how to do it, I know of one person who did theirs and he said it wasn't hard. I would check the reservoir hose first as it's really known for leaking as hpservertech mentioned and you can look at the pump but if the fluid is around the boot, it's probably the rack. You can also buy rebuilt racks, let me know if you are interested and I'll look up who makes the best one. Britwrench mentioned where he buys them in one of his posts and I tend to go with his advice when offered.

I know for a fact that you can get rebuilt racks from autozone around $175. They come with a lifetime warranty. Only thing I didn't like about it is that it is a short rack (so you will need to use your innner & outer tie rods or buy new ones) and that they paint the whole damn thing with cheap black paint. But otherwise with a lifetime warranty it could go out over year and I still wouldn't mind.
