Car runs sluggish after full tank of gas

Whenever I filled up my gas tank on my '83 944, the car does not accelerate well or very sluggish performance.
When gas tank near empty, the car runs better.

I do not seem to understand these problem. Does anyone ever replace the fuel screen inside the fuel tank ?

May sound like a simple minded answer but 1 gallon of fuel weighs 8 pounds...IIRC, take that times 14 gallons and you have added a whopping 112 more pounds to pull! This is the least expensive advice you will get to increase HP usage!

Weak fuel pump can't perform well under pressure? ... That's even weaker than 924Sman advice... but may also be valid?

You might want to check your fuel filter.

a gallon of water weighs 8 lbs, a gallon of gas weighs 6 lbs.

I remember when I check the fuel pressure, it was at the right range.
Perhaps , I should recheck the fuel pressure when the gas tank is full.

Thanks for the fuel pump and fuel filter inputs.

Just a shot in the dark, but try driving around with the gas cap off. Maybe you have a vapor lock issue and just need a new cap.

After some thought, it could very well be the check valve in line of the FP.....?

My guess is that it's a tank venting problem. If it was a pump or filter issue, I wouldn't think it would matter if you had a full tank or empty. Like Daryl said, try driving it without the gas cap and see if that helps.

Yes, it could be anything, but it definitely is something. ....... Well, that's just a guess, anyway.

Fantastic reason to take it off and try what I said. I don't trust aftermarket parts. I use them, but I don't just accept that they're always OK and to spec.

Please allow me to apologized to all fellow 944s for not getting back to the thread soon.
Just did not have the extra time .

Anyways, I jus t replaced my fuel filter and done fixing the leaking oil cooler.
I will get the OE gas cap and probably an oxygen sensor too since this old tired
944 is acting bad now because it is very cold in Portland.

You might want to look at the type of "gasoline" you are using. These cars do not do well on corn blended fuel. I recently changed back to Chevron due to my cars inability to use the cheaper fuels. I checked with the local Porsche dealership.

In the past, I used Shell sometimes 76. But, currently using Chevron 89 grade.

Where I live now , from November through February the gas stations mixed Ethano with the
gas.
