Going through suspension now
My entire front supension is worn to ****, it squeaks, taps, knocks, hits, bangs, bounces. Its horrible, i cant take turns above 40 or the outside wheel shakes violently. I knove what all needs replaced but looking to upgrade its handling a bit.
already going to get the koni inserts, with coil conversion, perches, adjustable camber. and a strut brace. however i need to know about the solid bushings from lindsey and paragon. solid aluminum bushings, this car is a daily driver, are they somthing to consider. im talking about the bushing for both arms. wont metal on metal create friction. or do the bushing casings get jammed into the housings and dont slide or spin or move. I want the car to be solid, but i dont want to have to replace everything in 3000 miles. thanks josh

OE rubber is good for more than 3k miles. Next step up is Delrin then spherical. Delrin is a teflon like material and stiffer, spherical is metal to metal or AKA solid. Delrin is a harsh ride and spherical is even harsher, both worse in winter/cold weather. Rubber is the softest ride and quieter. Strut brace on a street cat is a waste of money unless you plan on some very spirited drives, go with larger sway bars before a brace. If tracking a fair amount and/or racing then a strut brace is a benefit.
Some bushings are pressed in others not. Realignment is going to be needed too after the upgrade as is proper rake after using the lowering perches up front. General statement.......the harder the suspension is the more vibration it causes and the more things fall apart or loosen up! Dal

There was quite a discussion on this recently on Rennlist, related to Delrin bushings and short lifetimes.
The general consensus was that the OE rubber was the better option, if the car is a DD. For track, the spherical are best (but way $$$$). My vote is for the OE rubber. Cheers, Keith

For a street car you should just get OEM rubber stuff. Spherical bearings are pretty much for track only cars. You could drive it on the street but it wouldnt be very nice. If its a combination street/track car delrin is fine. Just dont put delrin in the castor block bushing since the control arm is moving it will destroy it. Polyurethane is better for this location.

I think Delrin is fine for a street car, it depends on user preferance. And I custom made Delrin caster blocks that have held up great in 3 cars, (soon to be 4). I have 5K street/track miles on them none of them easy miles and it holds up fine, the trick is to design it properly. I actually think they helped the ride quality. Just my .02
